The Early Year
1956-63

Founded by R Ramanujan as Vijay Industries. Furnace revamp assignment opens floodgates for mechanical contracting work at the Standard Vacuum & Burmah-Shell Refineries in Bombay.

Built the entire tank-farm for India’s first three indigenous refineries and emerged as India’s first Tank building company.

Building Blocks & Technology Renaissance
1964-73

License arrangement with Graver Tank Manufacturing Co. for Floating Roof & Cryogenic Tank technology.

Built India’s first cryogenic LOX/LIN Storage Tanks, High Pressure LPG Spheres and Asia’s largest Crude Oil Storage Terminal. Supplied first Crude Distillation column for Esso Refinery from Mulund Works

Drafted the Indian Standard Code IS:803 for Storage Tanks.

Global Footprint & Turnkey Contracting
1974-85

Developed a strong presence in the Middle East & African markets.

Turnkey projects for Refrigerated Ammonia & Pressureized LPG Storage and Handling Facilities in the Indian market

With 45 concurrent projects operating across India and 13 international territories, VTV grew into one of India’s largest EPC Contractors in the Oil & Gas sector.

Innovation & Consolidation
1986-95

Built India’s first Cryogenic Ethylene Storage Tanks.

Introduced Tank construction by hydraulic jacking in the Indian market. Developed a patented jacking process to build the world’s first Varaha Sphere.

Relocated Headquarters & Works to Vadodara with a focus on the growing domestic market demand.

New Benchmarks in Scale
1996-01

Designed and built one of the world’s largest crude oil and product storage terminals at RIL Jamnagar Refinery over three phases with a total capacity of 33.75 Million Barrels, including 24 Nos. 92M Dia. x 20M Ht. Double Deck Floating Roof Tanks and involving 113,615 MT of steel fabrication.

Built India’s first LNG Tank at Petronet LNG’s Dahej Terminal and India’s largest LPG mounded storage terminal at GAIL, PATA.

Ranked amongst India’s top 500 unlisted companies.

Growth in Heavy Engineering
2002-11

Pioneered the field of fabrication over dimensioned columns, including Crude & Vacuum Distillation Columns, Coke Drums, Naphtha Cracker Columns and Paraxylene Unit Columns.

Established Kandla SEZ Works. Shipped Bullets to Tunisia and New Caledonia and ODC Columns for Mangalore Refinery’s PFCC Unit.

Turnkey project for Atmospheric / Low Pressure Tanks and Pressurised / Cryogenic Spheres for Borouge 2 Petrochemical expansion project in Ruwais, UAE.

Integration & Expansion
2012-22

FEED + EPCC project for Multi-product oil storage and handling terminal for Gulf Petrochem at Pipavav port.

Heavy Engineering Division expanded with Jamnagar and Kandla Coastal Yard facilities brought on stream. World’s largest shop built sphere shipped to the Gorgon LNG Project in Australia and high pressure stacked heat exchangers for Oryx, Qatar.

EPCC contracts for Cryogenic Ethylene / Propylene Storage Systems at Opal-Dahej & HMEL-Bathinda and Refrigerated Ammonia / LPG Storage Terminals at RFCL-Ramagundam, BPCL-Haldia & IOC-Kandla.
